The convenient visa-free policy serves as a core advantage boosting tourism exchanges between China and Tunisia. Since September 2023, Tunisia has implemented a visa-free entry policy for Chinese tourists. Holders of ordinary passports may enter Tunisia without a visa for a maximum stay of 90 days. Travellers only need to prepare return air tickets and confirmed hotel bookings, greatly lowering travel barriers.
Tunisia welcomed approximately 28,000 Chinese tourists in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 19.3%. Tourist arrivals maintained an upward trend in Q1 2026 with a positive growth rate of 12%. During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, the number of Chinese visitors to Tunisia rose by around 20% year-on-year, demonstrating robust market momentum. At present, China has become a key overseas source market that Tunisia is committed to developing.
Tunisia attaches great importance to its market development in China and has rolled out a series of promotion and service upgrading initiatives. It regularly invites Chinese media, influencers and travel trade practitioners to conduct familiarization trips and launches diverse marketing campaigns. Meanwhile, Tunisia is fully optimizing on-site experiences for Chinese tourists, with a focus on cultivating Chinese-speaking tour guides. In addition, the University of Sousse in Tunisia is establishing a new Confucius Institute to deliver specialized tourism Chinese language training and foster professionals for cultural and tourism services.
From 14–16 October the Tunisian National Tourism Office will bring premium local tourism suppliers to the show for in-depth business matchmaking with Chinese outbound tour operators, tailor-made travel service providers and MICE operators. At the booth, the team of the Tunisian National Tourism Office will present the latest entry policies, ground support services and cooperation incentive packages. It aims to help Chinese industry players develop differentiated North Africa outbound travel products and jointly unlock new opportunities for China-Tunisia cultural and tourism cooperation.
